We offer fantastic teeth whitening options that can brighten smiles and leave you feeling confident about your younger looking, whiter teeth.
Teeth whitening is a completely safe and affordable treatment that lifts stains from the enamel, bleaching the darker dentine underneath. We use Poladay and Polanight, which you take away and continue with your treatment at home.
Teeth darken naturally, but certain foods and drinks can make our teeth stain more than others. Drinks such as tea, coffee and red wine are particularly notorious as they can stain the dentine under the enamel. Smoking will also cause your teeth to stain and become more yellow.
As we age, our teeth enamel wears away, revealing the darker dentine underneath. All the stains that have penetrated to this layer become visible as well.
Teeth whitening involves using a special gel that contains either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. When in contact with your tooth enamel, the whitening gel releases oxygen which reacts with the stain particles. The ions cause the stains to dissolve, leaving the teeth stain-free.
Whitening isn’t a permanent fix as your teeth will still be susceptible to stains after they’ve been whitened. You can always have a top up if you notice your teeth are starting to darken again. Whitening also doesn’t work on tooth restorations such as veneers, crowns and bridges. We can replace these so they match your new tooth colour.
Home whitening kits are an affordable and comfortable whitening treatment option. We feel that home kits are the best option for whitening. You have a lot more control over your treatment and the system can cause much less tooth sensitivity than in-surgery whitening.
Home whitening involves having your own custom-made mouth tray. We take impressions of your teeth on your first appointment. These are used to create clear trays that fit snugly in your mouth.
You can either choose to have Poladay, which means wearing the tray for a short amount of time in the day, or Polanight, which means wearing the tray as you sleep.
You inject a small amount of the special whitening gel into the tray and then pop it on. The custom-made mouth tray makes sure the gel has an even and complete spread over the surfaces of your teeth.
